Poor sleep quality is closely associated with lifestyle habits including use of mobile cell-phones.This study aimed to identify the relationship between sleep quality due to abuse in mobile cell-phones and engagement in social networks.
This cross-sectional study was conducted on 380 undergraduate students selected by proportional stratified sampling in Qom, Iran in 2015. Data were collected by two statndard questionnaire including Cell-Phone Over-Use Scale (COS) and Pittsburgh sleep quality questionnaire beside the status of usage in cell-phone social networks. T-test, chi-square, Pearson correlation coefficient and multivariate logistic regression were used in data analysis.
The mean age of participants was 21.8 ±3.2 yr, 69.1% were female, and 11.7% were married. The mean of COS and sleep quality scores were 48.18 ±17.5 and 5.38 ±2.31, respectively. The prevalence of over-use of cell phone was 10.7% (CI 0.95; 8.8%, 12.6%) and the prevalence of poor sleep quality was 61.7% (CI 0.95; 57.1%, 66.3%). The mean of all aspects and total score of sleep quality showed a direct significant association by cell-phone addiction score except sleep duration score that was inversely. Based on multivariate analysis affected to cell-phone addiction, being male gender and studying in general physician level are the most important predictors of poor sleep quality.
Over use of internet and social networks via smart phones is related to poor sleep quality and quantity. Predefined sport programs, educational, cultural, and interesting entertainment are the essential needs for all medical students. These interventions are more important especially for male students who have longer educational.

The US National Toxicology Program (NTP) has carried out extensive rodent toxicology and carcinogenesis studies of radiofrequency radiation (RFR) at frequencies and modulations used in the US telecommunications industry. This report presents partial findings from these studies. The occurrences of two tumor types in male Harlan Sprague Dawley rats exposed to RFR, malignant gliomas in the brain and schwannomas of the heart, were considered of particular interest, and are the subject of this report. The findings in this report were reviewed by expert peer reviewers selected by the NTP and National Institutes of Health (NIH). These reviews and responses to comments are included as appendices to this report, and revisions to the current document have incorporated and addressed these comments. Supplemental information in the form of 4 additional manuscripts has or will soon be submitted for publication. These manuscripts describe in detail the designs and performance of the RFR exposure system, the dosimetry of RFR exposures in rats and mice, the results to a series of pilot studies establishing the ability of the animals to thermoregulate during RFR exposures, and studies of DNA damage. The Gabriel-Tech GmbH with its measuring devices in cooperation with its scientific partners always makes an effort to timely evaluate potential harmful environments, create by intensive research new directed effective products and undertake them in all stages to exact laboratory investigations, in order to find solutions to reduce the corresponding loads.
By the year 2020 one million electro vehicles are expected to run in Germany – according to the „National Development Plan Electromobilty of the Federal Government“ (Bundesministerium für Umwelt, Naturschutz, Bau und Reaktorsicherheit (2009), cf. page 18). The potential of electro vehicles is seen „to free cities from pollutants, fine dust and noise and to increase in this way the quality of life (cf. page 89). Still - and this is not even concealed by the development plan - electromobility is not free of risks and weaknesses (cf. page 16-17).
Furthermore, there are other risks which are not mentioned in the plan of the Federal Government nor by other places. Laboratory investigations show – not only for electro vehicles, but also for modern hybrid – and internal combustion engine vehicles – non insignificant loads with respect to electromagnetic interference potentials. Especially with vehicles equipped with many electrical accessories; these loads should be taken seriously.
The Gabriel-Tech GmbH with its networks and its cooperations seem to be the only one having created a corresponding research program. The loads in vehicles are already such large that it seems necessary to develop products that have the ability to reduce these loads.
With respect to increasing radiation loads in our environment the consumer becomes more and more insecure. Industry branches like the mobile phone industry cannot admit problems because this would lead to indemnity law suits.
We, the team of the Gabriel-Tech, are able to quantify the problem and to visualize it. Then, in the following step, we can reduce the load significantly. Therefore, the slogan is valid for us: „There is no problem… because we do have the solution!“.
